PROJECTS AND REQUESTS AWARDED

FRIENDS OF THE ROCK - PAVING THE PATHWAY TO EXCELLENCE!

Join the Rock Island/Milan Booster Club's "Friends of the Rock".  The Booster Club is now selling engraved bricks which will be used in a new landscape for the front of the Fieldhouse.  Proceeds from the sale of the bricks will be used to support many programs at the Rock.  See any Booster Club Director for details or print an order form at "Friends of the Rock".  Help pave the future and be a part of Rocky's history. 

 

In the past 22 years the Booster club has donated over $260,000 at an average of almost $12,000 a year.

The many contributions over the years have included:

$2,000 to baseball for a new fence

$300 to the Bowling team to help with Tournament expenses

$200 to the High School Academic Team to help with expenses

Almost $3,000 to JrROTC.

$500 to Longfellow School for their Reading Night

$1,650 to the RIHS Special Education Dept to help cover costs of field trips.

$250 to the RIHS Speech Team to help cover costs to the State Finals

$2,000 to Girls Softball for a new batting cage

$2,937 to purchase new encyclopedias for Lincoln, Grant and Hawthorne Irving.

Installed new scoreboards in the fieldhouse as well as repainting the fieldhouse. 

$265 towards a radar gun for girl's softball

$750 towards concession stand project for baseball

$1000 towards a new fence for baseball

Donations to the High School Academic Team

$1000 to track for concrete work in the lower track

$25,000 to the District to aid in the cost of purchasing equipment for the new fitness center.

Renovated Football Locker rooms.

Paid $1500 towards the cost of new calculators to be used with the ISAT tests for Edison Jr. High.

Donated $6,500 to the Medal of Honor Banquet.

Various donations to aid in the cost of Class Trips and Frolics are just a few of the other requests that have been fulfilled. 

Almost $30,000 in  Scholarships

$21,000 to the Rock Island/Milan Council of PTA

$3,000 for the new band uniforms (The Boosters had also donated $13,000 towards the original purchase of the old band uniforms)

$14,500 to Post Prom

$7,350 to the Rock Island Chamber of Commerce for Academic Acheivement

$4,069 towards computer automation in the grade schools

$3,250 towards the RIHS Library computer system

$3,200 towards the Medal of Honor Banquets

$1,400 to Earl Hanson, Eugene Field and Thomas Jefferson towards playground equipment.

$1,000 to D.A.R.E.

World Book Encyclopedias to three elementary schools.

The Rock Island/Milan Boosters has also made donations to the RIHS Special Ed dept to aid in field trips, the RIHS Speech Team, the RIHS Academic Team, and the RIHS Junior ROTC program.

Your membership and support help make these donations possible!  New members are always welcome.

The Booster Club also maintains the All-State and Hall of Fame boards in the Fieldhouse as well as presents All-State Awards annually.

Guidelines and Nomination

NOMINATION

Nominations for a spring, fall or winter sports program must be received on or before January 31st of each year.  Awards will be presented at the same time as the All-State Awards are presented.

GUIDELINES FOR NOMINATIONS

Volunteer(s) in support of, giving his/her time and labor for, a minor or major athletic program which is to include Cheerleading.  Athletic programs are to be at the high school level.  Person(s) can be nominated by a head coach, coaching staff, co-volunteers or parent(s).  Only one nomineeor group of nominees per program allowed.  If not nominated by the head coach, the head coach must sign the nomination form signifying that he/she agrees with the nomination and that this will be the only nomination from this program.

SELECTION

The final award winner will be decided by a selection committee appointed by the Board of Directors with select committee results being approved by the board.  In case of a tie, multiple awards may be given.  The winning nominee's athletic program shall receive a $250.00 award.  The winning nominee(s) will receive a commemorative plaque
