Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is the Classroom Cubed Initiative federally funded? A: No, it is funded through grants that are channeled through the Illinois State Board of Education.
Q: Does Classroom Cubed require the use of special 3D glasses? A: Yes and no. The projection screen unit does require 3D glasses that come with the system. However the new 3D-LCD flat panel monitors do not require the special glasses.
Q: Is Classroom Cubed available to all teachers in Illinois? A: Yes, Classroom Cubed is FREE to all Illinois schools and educational institutions. The only cost is the proprietary equipment needed to run the software.
Q: Will Classroom Cubed teach the lesson? A: No, Classroom Cubed is a technology tool for teachers to use along with other tools they already use to effectively get across an idea or concept to their students. Nothing replaces effective instruction. We feel Classroom Cubed used in conjuction with effective instruction is a powerful combination.
Q: Is there training available for Classroom Cubed? A: Yes, training is available. Currently we offer 2 workshops. Level I training is focused on the use of the equipment and getting around in the software. Level II training is focused on interlacing effective instruction to Classroom Cubed technology.
Q: How long does a simulation last? A: It depends upon the teacher and the students. The Classroom Cubed software is not 'stand alone' technology that you can 'plug and play,' nor does it run for a specified amount of time. Classroom Cubed is interactive software that is used during instruction and manipulated by the instructor.
Q: How do you know Classroom Cubed is effective? A: We monitor our success from student assessment. We are very pleased with the results to date. (See the Assessment Results link.) We continually monitor and record the pre and post assessments given to students. That data is then graphed and analyzed. This data gives us vital information that influences product development.
Q: I'm not from the Rock Island Schools but I'm very interested in Classroom Cubed. How do I get started? A: The best way to get started is by contacting us. We will be happy to talk to you and answer all your questions. We will also be happy to set up a time for you to visit our district and observe Classroom Cubed being used in the classroom. We have a training site where you will be able to get hands on with the software to see firsthand how easy and powerful Classroom Cubed is.
