What Is The Classroom Cubed Initiative?

    The Classroom Cubed Initiative is a joint venture between education and business.  Rock Island/Milan School District #41, the grantee of an ISBE funded grant, has been working in close collaboration with JTM Concepts of Rock Island, Illinois, in creating 3D projected simulations for classrooms in grades K-12.

    The Development Team, a group of outstanding Rock Island retired teachers, works with Tracey Masamoto of JTM Concepts in generating story boards of difficult curriculum concepts.  The completed story boards are then sent on to JTM Concepts for programming and modeling.  The Development Team then creates the "Teacher Tips" and assessment package for each new simulation created. 

    The 3D simulations are       then made available to Rock Island/Milan District teachers via an internet delivery system.  The simulations are shown on equipment created exclusively for Classroom Cubed.  Classroom3TM (Classroom Cubed) 3D simulations, created by JTM Concepts, are used as teaching and learning tools to enrich the learning environment of classrooms in grades K-12.  We define 3D as a three-dimensional, holographic style images in which the students are active participants in the learning experience and the action is completely controlled by the user/teacher.

What Classroom Cubed IS and what it IS NOT

  • Classroom Cubed is a technology tool for teaching and learning.
  • It is technology aligned with and incorporated into the curriculum.
  • It is engaging students in meaningful learning.
  • It is increasing student learning (see Assessments).
  • Classroom Cubed Initiative is not a 'stand alone' tech teaching tool.
  • It is not an 'add on' to the educational curriculum.

The Classroom Cubed Initiative simulations support six areas of educational interest to Illinois teachers:

  • Difficult educational concepts
  • Spatial and visual connections to learning
  • Motivating students
  • Engaging students
  • Linking instruction to the Illinois State Learning Standards
  • Improving student  ISAT scores
