John Deere Classic 2008

JOHN DEERE CLASSIC BAND VOLUNTEERS

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

FOR VOLUNTEERING!!!

Please fully read the necessary volunteer information below. We are really hoping this will be a very successful fundraising event for the RIMA Band Parent Group . At the end please find the final volunteer schedule as it will be sent to Spectrum.  We can still add people to the schedule if you decide you want to work more hours, or if your students decide they want to come help too, but please let me know.

1. You will need to check in at a trailer in the free volunteer parking area.  The trailer should have a Shriner's Banner on it. You will need to get your free admission pass for that day at the check in. You will need to do this each day you work - passes are only given out 1 day at a time.

PARKING INFORMATION
For 2008 - All volunteer parking will be at the River Bend Industrial Center (the old John Deere Foundry). The address is 1300 19th Street East Moline. There will be signs posted for Volunteer Parking. Please park in the designated Volunteer Parking as this is the only FREE parking for volunteers. Shuttle buses will take you directly to the TPC Club House and pick you up there to return you to the River Bend Industrial Center. If you park anywhere else you will be responsible for any parking fees and you will be dropped off at the main gate.
2. Please be at the Volunteer Parking area at least 1/2 to 1 hour prior to your scheduled start time. It may take some time for the free shuttle to get you to the clubhouse. Once you arrive at the clubhouse you will need to walk to our tent area. We are tent #16 which is between the 16th green and 17th tee . You can check with volunteer registration or ask anyone near the clubhouse for directions to our tent that day.

3. As a volunteer you do get free food and nonalcoholic drinks from your tent concessions.

4. Cell phones are not allowed.  However, if you have to keep one with you, it is very important that you keep it in your pants pocket (non visible) and on vibrate at all times or completely off!  If the security officer can see you have a cell phone, he/she will ask you to leave it in your automobile.

5. If possible wear something to show your Rocky Pride! Red or Gold. (But, don't worry about it if you don't have anything that color.)

6. When you decide to take your lunch break or take a break to replenish the fluids in your body (cause you'll lose a lot if it's hot) - please make sure that you step out of the tent to do so.  Health Inspectors pop in and out of all tents at various times during the week and frown completely on drinking and eating within the tents.

7. If you are in the back area of the tent where we make sandwiches you will be required to wear a hair net (supplied in the tent) or you may wear a hat you bring yourself (most of the student volunteers like the later option)

8. We need to cover our concession tent on Wed. - Friday from 8:00 - 5:00 and on Sat. and Sun 9:00 - 5:00.  the end time each day is not set in stone- we need to staff the tent until the last group of golfers is done on the 17th hole and then close it up for the night.

9. If there are any difficulties with your work schedule or questions you need to contact one of the following people as soon as possible!!

Lorene Pearson             Nancy Greenwood
756-0069 home             787-3508   home
309-236-1734 cell         309-737-8675 cell
                                         NancyPTAsst@mchsi.com

10. The shuttle will continue to run as long as volunteers are working so if you want to stay later for some of the evening festivities the shuttle will still be running to take you back to the volunteer lot. You should probably make sure you do catch the shuttle by 10:00 or 10:30 p.m. though, just to be safe.

11. There will be times that you'll want to take a 10-15 minute break. Please remember that Spectrum does not provide chairs for our volunteers at the tents.  It is up to each of you to bring your own lawn chairs if you want to sit and rest for awhile and get off your feet.  I would highly recommend bringing a lawn chair for each person as you will want breaks now and again because it does get pretty busy at times.

12. Purses and bags of any kind will be thoroughly checked at the parking area by a security officer before you board the bus.  If you can go without bringing your bag/purse, please do so - this will save you some time.

AGAIN - THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR VOLUNTEERING FOR THIS EVENT!!

Nancy Greenwood
