Rock Island is located in northwestern Illinois on the bluffs of the Mississippi River. Together with Moline in Illinois and Davenport and Bettendorf on the Iowa side of the river, Rock Island is part of the Quad-Cities. Rock Island has a population of 40,461. The Rock Island School District has an enrollment of 6,400 students. These students are divided into 11 elementary schools, 2 junior high schools, 1 high school and 1 alternative high school.
